mode40 makes software for running an operation, from Steinbach, Manitoba. The Singularity is one platform that pulls an operation's data into a single working model, with AI on top of it that knows how the place actually runs. Our customers are manufacturers, food and beverage producers and aerospace suppliers. One of them runs 19 facilities on a single installation.

mode40 was started by people who ran plants and spent years working around software built by people who never had. The product is built on that, and it is what we hire for.

Location and how we work

This role is based in Steinbach, or remote anywhere in Canada. mode40 is remote-first, with an office in Steinbach for the people who want one. Everyone here has access to everyone from day one: if you need the CEO, you talk to the CEO rather than waiting for a meeting invite.

What you will do

  • Build and own the pipelines that pull from PLCs, historians, MES, ERP and whatever else a plant is running
  • Model that mess into the single record the rest of the platform depends on
  • Work directly with customers' engineers on site, not through a ticket queue
  • Decide what good looks like for data quality on an engagement, then hold the line on it

What we are looking for

  • Five or more years building production data systems, not just analyses
  • Deep SQL, and comfort with Python for the parts SQL cannot reach
  • You have dealt with a source system that lies to you and know how you found out
  • Real curiosity about how a plant runs. Industrial data experience on top of that is a bonus

  • mode40 days: earned Fridays through July and August, plus a stretch at the end of December
